Happy Tuesday! This one's all vintage, except the scarf, which I got at a street fair this weekend. (Anybody notice that lion...? That's strange. It's certainly not there because I get way too entertained by the "sticker" section of Picnik...nope. That can't be it.) Anyway, this is quite the strange pattern clash, and way out of my usual comfort zone (solids!) but I was looking through some of the hidden - literally hidden, by all the stuff I have in there - gems of my closet and happened upon this romper. Hope you guys like it!
Also, be sure to check out my guest post on The Basis NYC about this weekends fun at Coachella!

Festival Creature - Coachella/GUEST POST TONIGHT
(tUne - yArDs Merrill Garbus in literally the coolest dress I've ever seen, worn during her set at Coachella )
GOOD GOD.
THE COACHELLA LINE UP IS FANTASTIC. Next year I'm going. There's no holding me back. I'll walk to California if I have to (although, I think from New York it'd be quite the trek).
Last night, some of my favorite bands (tUne - yArDs, The Vaccines, Andrew Bird, St. Vincent, Miike Snow, Radiohead, Boniver) were on, and on Friday, the Arctic Monkeys (my all time favorite band) went on twice. Holy cheesus. I think I'd die of happiness right then and there.
Yes, I just said cheesus.
Anyway, I've been tuning in here on and off all day to watch it via Coachella's YouTube channel. And...a very exciting announcement: I'll be guest posting all the juicy details about Coachella, the style, the bands, the bananas (okay, not bananas) on my best friend Natalie's blog, The Basis NYC tonight!

Robots & Progress
Me trying on a lovely spring dress. It's not like I have an essay to write or anything. Procrastinating? Nope.
Anyway, the dress is vintage and paired with my lovely Jeffrey Campbell leopard and patent leather loafers and some obnoxiously purple socks. And I really don't know why there's a robot by my feet. It has nothing to do with me procrastinating. Because I'm not.

Premature Spring Fever!
It's days like today that get me SO ecstatic for spring. Between the sun, the blue sky, the crisp air and that spring smell that peeks through the chilly end-of-winter breeze, it all gets me incredibly excited. And, despite the pastel and statement color trend, I always seem to get most excited about the "classic" spring essentials that you can count on being in style every spring.
1. The Colored Leather Jacket - After a while, I just get sick of black leather jackets. Thankfully, I can always count on a colored leather jacket, this year I'm scouting a pink-pastel leather jacket, or an rusty orange one, like this IRO jacket above.
2. Crochet Denim Shorts - I think this one goes without saying, but I'll say it any way: denim shorts are an essential for spring, to anyone. The crochet is a nice little touch to spice up the old denim short/cotton tee/sandals look. (Topshop)
3. White Cotton Mini Dress - This essential has got to be my favorite. The white cotton dress looks good on all ages and embodies that spring/summer look we love. It's clean, crisp, and comes in all shapes and sizes. Each year I get a new one that has a different touch. Perhaps a little crochet, or some layering, or like this MIH Jeans dress, a nice collar.

Sleepy Saturdays
I'm not sure about you guys, but by the time the weekend rolls around, I'm exhausted, and fashion wise, completely out of ideas. So, when I'm about to fall asleep at 1 (PM...a little pathetic, I'll admit) I can usually find just enough energy to throw on something, get myself out of the house and to lunch with friends. In the winter I usually resort to patterned leggings, a chunky sweater and Doc Martens or combat boots, but as the weather changes, I find myself needing a bit of a change, as well. Slouchy jeans, a white button-down or a denim shirt, and booties seem like a perfect go-to. Do you have a "go-to" outfit?

Wishing: Black, White and Silver
Feeling like my spring wish list is a little out of season, but come on. That Topshop sequin dress is godly. So is that Nasty Gal skirt. As for the creepers, I'll always drool a bit when I see them. It's inevitable. The shorts are a must have for this spring, though it's nothing new. Last spring I was anti-lace/fabric shorts and lived in denim ones, but this spring I suppose I'll try something a little different. And wear some colors, too, considering I tend to live in neutrals and apparently, silver.
